Service record of Holland resident Roelof Dalman in "Record of Service of Michigan Volunteers in the Civil War, Vol. 43"
History
Roelof Dalman was born on Dec. 22nd, 1833 in the Netherlands. Some time before the Civil War, he and his family emigrated to the United States, and he was living in Zeeland, MI when the war started. On Dec. 21st, 1863, he enlisted in the 1st Michigan Mechanics and Engineers Co. K, in which he served until Sep. 22nd, 1865. After the war, he moved to nearby Holland, MI. He passed on June 26th, 1915 and is interred in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
