Description
A six-page typewritten article about Ernest C. Brooks dated March 22, 1956. He was Mayor of Holland from 1928-1932. He also served as a State Senator and head of the Corrections Commission. He promoted the first Tulip Time in 1929. A market basket plan during the Depression led to the building up of Windmill Island. During the WWII years, he was Sales Manager at his brother, Phillips Brooks' 7-Up Bottling Company.

Randall P. "Randy" Vande Water was a local historian and newspaper editor. He spent 4 decades at the Holland Sentinel working as sports editor, city editor, editorial page editor, and managing editor.
