History
Mary Emma Young lived at 177 W. 11th Street, Holland, MI. Mary Emma worked as a host of the homemaker’s hour on WHTC in the 1950s and 1960s. She was also a housemother at Van Vleck Hall at Hope College for seven years. Mary Emma was also a member of Third Reformed church, Women’s Literary Club, PEO, League of Women Voters, Holland Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels and reviewed books at Herrick Public Library. Mary Emma was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana. She married W.F. (Brig) Young in 1924. They eventually moved to Holland in the early 1950’s to work at WHTC. They had a son, Bennett E, three daughters, Nancy, Mary and Eva. Mary Emma died on March 27, 1976.
