History
Holland High School got its start in November of 1851 as Union School. The school was located on east 10th Street, between Central and College Avenues. The first graduates, in 1873, were five students, all girls. This school appears to have been in operation into the 1880s. The Holland City News from 8-11-1888 indicates that the school building was under examination by the County Board of School Examiners.
A new, $120,000 high school was built by Dyke and Oosting Builders. It was dedicated on 4-29-1914 and stood at the corner of 15th and Pine. This building still stands in 2024 and is occupied by Jubilee Ministries. Objects in donation 2024.61 were used in this Holland High building.
The current Holland High was built in 1961.;Read More
