The Poe Club opened on 12-18-1965. An article from the Holland Sentinel, on 4-20-1966, announced the 10,000th visitor to the Poe Club. Advertisements appeared in both the Sentinel and Grand Rapids Press.
Some of the bands advertised were the Princetons, the Kingtones, New Colony Six, the Ju-Jus, the Rivieras, Satan's Sinners, the Aardvarks and the Fugitives. Many ads stated that "Our Welcome Is Out To All Hope College Students".
Bowling scores from the 4-27-1966 Holland Sentinel show that the Poe Club had a team in the First Reformed Church bowling league.
On April 10, 1968, a chess tournament was held in the Poe Club's Raven Room. On April 19, 1968, the Excels performed at the club. The club discontinued operations on or about April 20, 1968.
On Thursday, April 25, 1968 at 11:15pm, a fire broke out at the club. The first floor was gutted and smoke damaged the second floor. Holland fire inspector Marvin Mokma called in the State Fire Marshall to investigate and determine the cause of the fire. The building was owned by Holland resident Ivan Schrotenboer.
By May 16, 1968, the building was up for sale. In July 1969, the building was demolished.
