Canadian coin, 5 cents. One side has a crown and reads "5 cents 1887." The other side has a picture of Queen Victoria and an inscription that is illegible.
This coin was donated by Gerrit John Rutgers. He was born on May 12th, 1870 in Holland, Michigan. He worked as a farmer until his death and was an active part of the Holland, Michigan farming community.. He ended up passing away on July 20th, 1942. He is currently buried in Graafschap Cemetery in Michigan. Most likely, he collected this coin to remind him of his heritage.
