Brown, wooden table with two leaves, connected to the sides by hinges.
History
This table was made by Halvor Larson Stabbestad, a Norwegian sailor born ca. 1793. The table eventually became the property of Halvor’s son-in-law, Isaac Thompson.

Isaac was born Isaac Taraldsen Orvik on 8-20-1820 in Norway. His father was Tarald Nilsen Omland, his mother was Anne Knutsen.

Isaac married Jacobina Halvorsen Stabbestad (daughter of Halvor) ca. 1848 in Norway. Isaac and Jacobina left Norway for New York in May of 1849. They were living in Holland, MI by 1860 (according to the US Census), where they remained the remainder of their lives.

Captain Isaac Thompson was a sailor out of Holland, MI. He owned and operated the schooners A.P. Dutton, Pioneer, Eveline, W. Bates, Four Brothers and Scudd.

Isaac died 3-7-1890 in Holland, MI. Jacobina died 8-13-1906 in Holland, MI. Their children included the following: Hans (1850-1913); John; Helen (1856-1880); Joseph (1860-1933); Emma (1860-1924); Abraham; and, Mary (1868-1935).
