Description
Round, wooden snare drum. Trim around the top and bottom of the drum is colored a reddish brown. An eagle appears on the side.
History
This drum used during the Civil War by Nelson W. Ogden, including during the fighting at Tebbs Bend, KY. Nelson was a drummer for Co. I, 25th Mich. Infantry Volunteers. Records show that Nelson enlisted in Holland, MI on 8-14-1862.
Nelson was born in Orleans Co., NY on 6-2-1845. He passed away in Holland, MI on 3-17-1911. Nelson married Martha Nichols in Holland, MI on 7-4-1868.
