Tobacco box, inscription on inside lid reads “3 Prys aan Gys Breure voor ervarenheid in het Ploegen op den 22 June 1858”. Translated into English, this means that on June 22, 1858, and man named Gys Breure received an award for efforts/experience in plowing, perhaps, as the result of a contest. This article are from the Netherlands, later brought to America and it survived the Holland fire of 1871.
