History
During the early part of President Truman's administration, the White House underwent a series of renovations. As a result, very old pieces of wood and hardware (nails) were removed from the structure. Rather than discard these historic pieces, the government sold them. The director of the Netherland's Museum (aka Holland Museum), Bill Wichers, acquired some of the relics for the museum's collection.
