History
This miniature carousel was built by Johan Van Ark ca. 1905. It was about 1910 that Johan gave the carousel to Pieter A. "Toon" Weller.
Weller brought the carousel with him in 1920 when he left the Netherlands for Holland, MI. There were a number of years during the 1930s when the carousel sat in Holland's Armory during Tulip Time, along with a garden display from Weller Nursery.
Pieter A. "Toon" Weller was born in the Netherlands on 11-6-1866. He died in Holland, MI on 2-13-1942. Pieter lived in Holland, MI with his wife Alida at 340 W. 20th (1938 and 1940 city directories).
