Description
1 of a pair of Dutch "Friesian" ice skates.  Brown wood with dark brown, leather straps and silver-colored metal blades.
History
This pair of ice skates was given to the donor, William Sloot, by his mother Weemelina (1877-1954). Ice skates thought to be 50 years old at the time of donation. This means William would have been roughly 16 or 17 years old when he received the ice skates.

William Sloot was born on 4-7-1895 in the Netherlands. In 1903, he immigrated to the US. His father was Bert Sloot (1870-1947).
The 1910 US Census lists his city of residence as Holland, MI. On October 7, 1920, William married Cora ? in Muskegon, MI.

Holland City directories show William and Cora as residents, living at 72 West 16th Street, from 1949 to 1962.

William died 10-2-1968 in Holland, MI and was buried in Pilgrim Home.
