This basket belonged to Johanna Ruesink Wilterdink, early settler to Holland, MI and great grandmother to donor.Johanna was born in the Netherlands on 2-13-1819. It was here that she married Gerrit Wilterdink in 1843.
Johanna and Gerrit arrived in America in 1846. By 1850 they had settled in Holland, MI (US Census) where they would live for the next 20 years or more (1860 and 1870 US Census) before settling in Fillmore, MI (1880 US Census).
Johanna passed away in Holland, MI on 3-21-1891. She was buried in Holland's Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
