This piece of Japanese currency belonged to Rev. James Wayer (1871-1965). He graduated from Hope College in 1901. He would later teach at Hope College.The donor, Margaret Wayer, was his wife. She was born in 1880 and passed away in 1966. Both are buried in Muskegon, MI.
