Description
Currency, Japanese, 50 sen. One side has ornate plants and patterns on it while the other has Japanese writing on it marking it as "fifty Sen." The pattern of the currency is that of the Sengoku period of Japan when art flourished with curvy lines and bold expressions. 
History
This Japanese currency belonged to Rev. James Wayer (1871-1965). He graduated from Hope College in 1901. He would later teach at Hope College.
The donor, Margaret Wayer, was his wife. She was born in 1880 and passed away in 1966. Both are buried in Muskegon, MI.
