History
Anna Dehn was born in 1874. She was a teacher for Holland High school as a Supervisor of Writing. Her father was Gustaf Dehn (1844-1932), her mother was Augusta Quist Dehn (1844-1928), her brother was William. From the city directory of 1900, when Anna was 25, the family was listed as living at 221 W. 12th Street. The city directory of 1940 listed Anna at the same address at age 65. A Grand Rapids Press article listed Anna as one of five teachers who retired at the end of the school year. In the article it states Anna was the dean of the Holland teachers, served Holland Public Schools for 46 years. She had been principal, supervisor of writing in the elementary schools and classroom tearcher in the Junior High school. Anna was a graduate of Western State Teachers college and had taken extension work in middle west and eastern colleges. Anna died on January 12, 1946, at age 72, she is buried in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
