Description
6.5 inch tall tea pot, pewter. This tea pot belonged to the Wesselius C. Nibbelink family who lived at 23 W 9th Street in 1871. At the approach of the fire, the family sent their household goods by wagon to the farm of Mr. Nibbelink's father, located at 12th and Lincoln, whose farm extended east of Lincoln to Fairbanks and north of 16th to 8th St. The West 9th Street house burned and only an iron pump was still standing, and this teapot were found in the ashes. It was reported at the time of the donation that the teapot has not been polished. The donor stated the appearance has remained virtually unchanged since he acquired it in 1898.
