Description
Oval-shaped platter, white with grayish blue floral pattern around the outside edge.  The handles on each end are in the form of leaves, gold outlines visible on handles, chips on back.
History
The dishes in donation 1971.29 were given to the donor’s mother, Alice Nevenzel Brower (1864-1927), as a wedding gift in 1894 when Alice married Gerrit Brower (1869-1922).
Alice and Gerrit were married on 10-17-1894 in Hamilton, MI. The gift came from Anna Van Raalte Kleinheksel (1856-1914), daughter of A.C. and Christina Van Raalte. Alice worked as a maid for Ann Van Raalte Kleinheksel.

The US census from 1900, 1910 and 1920 show the Browers living in Heath, Allegan County, MI. They had the following children: Hendrika; Mary; Harry; and, Dena.
