Benjamin was born in the Fillmore area on April 17, 1890 to Johannes and Cornelia Schrotenboer.Benjamin died serving his country during World War One, on October 18, 1918. He was buried in Holland's Pilgrim Home Cemetery. He had no wife or children.
The donor married Benjamin's nephew, David Schrotenboer.
