Description
Clear glass fruit compote with glass pedestal and lid. Both the compote and lid have a floral pattern.
History
Jan and Marie Fraanje Steketee received this glass fruit compote as a wedding present on September 23, 1830 in Borselle, South Beveland, Zeeland, the Netherlands. Their granddaughter, Mrs,. Pauline Catherine Steketee Beneker (daughter of their second son, Jan, and his wife (Catherine), gave the compote to Arthur Fred Steketee and his wife, Dorothy, as a wedding present when they visited Mrs. Beneker in 1930 in Holland, MI. Mrs. Beneker was a cousin of Arthur Fred Steketee's father, making her a second c ounsin of Arthur Fred Steketee.
