Medium sized blue dress with full skirt and short sleeves; straight stand-up collar; snaps down back of bodice. Part of a Tulip Time costume.
History
The Dutch costumes in donation 1991.18 were worn by Holland, MI resident Esther Hinkamp McCoy. She wore them during the Tulip Time celebrations from 1932 to 1934 while attending Holland High School.

Esther was born in Wisconsin in 1916. By 1920 (US census) the family had moved to Holland, MI where Esther lived at 64 West 14th with her parents, Paul and Martha Hinkamp, and her siblings. Esther was a graduate of Hope College. She would later served during WW2 for the U.S. Navy’s WAVES coding and decoding messages to and from ships in the Atlantic. After the war she worked in New York City for the magazines Redbook and Harpers Bazaar. In 1984 she married Capt. Donald E. McCoy USN and moved to Holland, MI.
