Costume Cap,  9" x 7"; knitted white cap with band of black fabric added (matching the sleeves added to the bodice); band with hand basted edges; cap-band attached with white hand stitching; yellowed.
History
Dutch costume 1992.69 was purchased in the Province of Gelderland, Netherlands, by Holland, MI residents Dick and Gertrude Zwiep. Their daughter, Elsa Zwiep Prince, wore the costume during a heritage pageant while in junior high.
Dick Zwiep was born in the Netherlands on 8-26-1901. He arrived in the US ca. 1923 and married Gertrude Pott in Holland, MI on 3-31-1927. Gertrude was born in the Netherlands in 1901.1901

They lived in Holland, MI at 154 West 20th Street (1929 city directory) and 175 West 19th Street (1934 city directory) before moving to Virginia Park in Park Township (1942 city directory).

Dick operated Zwiep's Seed Store at 9 West 16th Street in Holland, MI (1942, 1958 city directories). He passed away unexpectedly while visiting the Netherlands on 4-26-1972. Gertrude passed away on 12-8-1998 in Holland, MI.
