Description
Horizontal pin with "Delegate" plate at the top; with a red ribbon that says; "28th Annual Conv'n, Michigan State Fireman's Association. June 11-12, 1902, Holland, Mich." with a shield shaped pendant with a burning building with firemen with horse and carts putting out the flame. On the back is embossed, "Pat. Oct. 1892, Mar. 7 '89".
History
John C. Dyke was born in Holland, MI on 11-21-1868 to Jacobus and Francina Dyke. He married Christiana Damson in Holland on 7-2-1895.
John was a member of the Holland Fire Department, Eagle Hose Company No 1 from about 1894-1904. He also worked as a foreman for the Holland Furniture factory.
John played a role in the construction of Holland's city hall building on River Avenue. He passed away in Holland on 10-25-1919.
