Description

Hat: 10" x 11"; net and velvet; made of 2 layers of netting; bottom layer of large blue mesh; top layer of fine blue net; 2 blue velvet bows are attached one at base at back of hat, other at right angles; also attached to net are 5 flowers and 6 leaves in variegated colors of blue, olive green and white.

History
Hat worn by Henrika Ver Burg (1910-1994), mother of the two donor’s, Stan Ver Burg and Theresa Ver Burg Kleis. Henrika worked as a baker for the Hekman Rusk Company in Holland, MI. She lived at 311 West 22nd Street in Holland with her husband Gerrit (1903-1980). Both Henrika and Gerrit are buried in Holland’s Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
