Description
Small blue straw hat, trimmed with white straw. A circle of narrow, tightly wound white straw (1 1/4" across) is attached at top of hat slightly to left of center. to the left are 3 overlapping "leaves" of blue straw edged with white. o the right are 2 similar "leaves: one below the other on side of hat. A blue net veil is attached at top and sides of hat. c. 1950's.
History
Hat worn by Henrika Ver Burg (1910-1994), mother of the two donor’s, Stan Ver Burg and Theresa Ver Burg Kleis. Henrika worked as a baker for the Hekman Rusk Company in Holland, MI. She lived at 311 West 22nd Street in Holland with her husband Gerrit (1903-1980). Both Henrika and Gerrit are buried in Holland’s Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
