Black and white photograph of the donor, Antoinette C. Sikkel, in her Navy Aviations Machinists Mate uniform. Antoinette served during World War II. The United States Naval Reserve (Women’s Reserve) better known as the WAVES for Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service was the women’s branch of the United States Naval Reserve during World War II. The group was started in 1942 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.  
History
The donor, Antoinette C. Sikkel, enlisted in the Navy WAVES in Holland, MI on 12-6-1943. She trained as an Aviation Machinist's Mate. She serviced fighter planes in Rhode Island and Florida.
